The understanding of gender and biological sex has evolved over time, revealing a more complex reality than previously thought. It is not uncommon for individuals assigned as female at birth to have XY chromosomes or for those assigned as male to have XX chromosomes. This phenomenon challenges the traditional binary concept of gender. Some individuals with XY chromosomes may go through life without realizing their genetic makeup and can even conceive children.
